Soaking in the Sun

It has been a long, cold, snowy winter in the Northeast.  We have been missing our friend, Mr. Sun, so we went in search of him.

On Spring Break we headed south.  South to where the temperatures are about 15 degrees warmer, and even if it rains, it feels warm.  South to where the beach is beckoning in early April.

Myrtle Beach, SC was our destination.  We left on a Friday, and stayed overnight in Staunton, VA.  It was beautiful - just to the west of the Shenandoah National Park.   If the beach wasn't calling my name, I probably would have been perfectly content to stay there and enjoy God's beauty.

The next day, we headed out on the road again.  The kids loved traveling in Romeo (our camper) vs. the truck.  They especially liked that they can "eat on the road".

We enjoyed a great week at PirateLand in Myrtle Beach, and God gave us a such a blessing with perfect weather!

This way to the beach!!

Even Bandit loved the beach!

Our spirits were lifted by our trip, and can't wait to start planning our spring break trip for next year!

Romeo's Maiden Voyage

Last weekend we took Romeo out for its maiden voyage.

We left the kids at home so we could try to figure out what we would need, and all the new gadgets and buttons without them around.  :)

We went to Elk Neck State Park in Maryland.  Such a great state park! We highly recommend it.  Lots to do, great scenery, friendly people and great campsites.

We had a lovely time.  Our only complaint was how cold it was!  We woke up to snow on Saturday and frozen hoses on Sunday. But -- we were nice and toasty inside our new camper! :)

We have big plans for Romeo. We are heading to Myrtle Beach next week for Spring Break.  We can't wait to hit the open road!!

In Deep

Well, we are in deep now!

Over the winter we decided to upgrade our camping style just a bit.

So, we bid farewell to Glampy, and welcomed Romeo (and Juliette, our new toad) into our family!

2014 Season Wrap-up

We wrapped up our 2014 camping season with a trip to what is becoming one of our favorite locations.  As usual, we had a fabulous weekend just relaxing and enjoying being outdoors.

Nothing fancy, just beautiful fall camping with God showing off his glorious creation.

Summer Finale

After our big road trip in July, we didn't get Glampy out much.  So, we were sure to close out summer with two weekends in a row!

Two weekends ago we kept it local and went to a fun little campground not too far from us.  We had a fun new addition to our campsite -- a hammock!  It was a big hit, and I think a campsite with suitable trees will be part of our campsite requirements from now on. :)

Even our guest enjoyed the hammock!

There were lots of fun things to do at this campground, including giant chess and checkers, swimming pool, and the annual pig roast!

It was a fun and relaxing weekend for all!

Video games are way more fun in a camper - lol!
And, this past weekend we ventured over to Amish county in Lancaster County, PA.  We were visiting family in the area, but we still managed to take advantage of the fun things the campground had to offer.

great site - but no trees for the hammock :(

It was hot! Gotta' hit the pool!

Our site was right on a little stream - which the kids loved because there were plenty of frogs to be caught.

JR gets all the nice sunrises as he is the sucker who has to get up with the dog in the morning :)

It rained a little while we were there, but we didn't care...we were in our camper!  We had a ferocious game of Monopoly and enjoyed a movie.  I am pretty sure I will never sleep in a tent again! - lol!
Don't let size keep you from your DD!
Relaxing and camping as a family was a nice way to end the summer before the craziness of our fall schedules begin.  Ending summer on a high note - That's how we roll!
