On the Road Again: The Great Lakes Tour 2014

On the Road Again...

That was our theme song for the past 2.5 weeks as we took Glampy out on the road to tour the Great Lakes.

We left the day after school was out and didn't return home until after the 4th.  We traveled over 3300 miles and added 4 new states and Canada to our camping map.

We're so tiny!!
We got to see and swim in (or least dip our toes in) all five great lakes. We tried for a picture in each -- but I think we only managed one in which everyone was looking - ha!
Lake Ontario at Ft. Niagara St. Park
Lake Michigan at Petoskey State Park
Lake Huron at Cheboygan State Park
Lake Huron in Mackinaw City
Lake Superior at Little Girl's Point
Lake Erie at East Harbor State Park
Lake Erie at Marblehead Lighthouse
And we took in many other cool sights along the way including Niagara Falls, the Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and the gorgeous natural settings of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Mackinac Bridge
Copper Peak, Ironwood, MI
We made it to the top!
Soo Locks
Waterfalls on Black River

Hiawatha: Ironwood, MI

Super fun water park in Ohio
The best part was getting to see some friends and family that we hadn't seen in awhile.

We were blessed with pretty much perfect weather on our trip, and fell in love with our camper.

Good Morning, America!!

It was a great trip!  We can't wait to plan our next trip and get back out on the road again...because that's how we roll!

Squeezing It All In!

We really wanted to go camping over Memorial Day weekend.  But, Charlie had a baseball tournament.

Our solution: find a campground close to where the tournament was being played.  :)

It was a last minute decision to go camping, but we found a fun little campground that is on a big farm. There were lots of farm animals for the kids to see, feed, pet, etc.  Paige even got to see a baby goat being born - which led to some interesting conversations about what she saw - lol!

Bandit was probably the happiest camper in our group.  There was a huge dog run and he loved it! He was so happy to have some doggy friends run around and mix it up with.

And...finally the weather was warm enough to take advantage of the pool!!

So, we camped, swam, made friends, learned a little bit about nature, and played some baseball. Squeezing it all in...that's how we roll!

All Thawed Out!

Whew! Finally that long, cold, snowy winter is over!!

We were so excited to get Glampy out of storage and get her back in action.  We only had a long weekend to get away since the kids' spring break was wiped out by all our snow days this winter -- but we made the most of it!

We were able to camp Thursday night, Friday night, back home on Saturday for Easter, and then back out to camp for Sunday night.

We were a little chilly on Thursday night and Friday. But the clouds cleared away Friday afternoon and it was gorgeous for the rest of the weekend.

The kids did a lot of bike riding, a little fishing, making new friends, and just enjoying being outside. Definitely a successful weekend!

Here are a few pics from our weekend.
